No but really, as we all got a little bit older and sports started taking up all our time we sold the boat and our lake years came to a screeching halt - that was until last summer!
Coincidentally, Gavin had a basketball tournament in Spearfish last summer and my parents came across Lake Pactola. It is a beautiful lake that is completely surrounded by pine trees and since renting pontoons is an option there we packed up the camper and headed to South Dakota for the Labor Day weekend!
The Schwartz family joined us and we had a ball! Alaina was not old enough to enjoy too much of the water fun but her calm demeanor made for a memorable trip! We spent the weekend camping, barbequing, cliff jumping, wave running, tubing and some good 'ol pontoon time!
By the time we left I was hooked. Again. There is something about the lake that makes you forget about it all and I can also vow that I have never had a BAD TIME at the lake - doesn't matter what lake it was! :)
And we're off!
My babes! Ready for the water!
When ya gotta go, ya gotta go!
Our attempt at a family picture!...ha!
On a side note: I have a husband who did not grow up around the water like we all did. In fact, it is probably safe to say he doesn't even really like the water, but agreed to try out this whole "lake thing" because he is a good sport! By the end of the weekend, we could not get him OFF the waverunner! He had a ball and was already talking about purchasing one for ourselves before we even got back home!
Woohoo! Mission accomplished ;)
Here she is! The cutest little ham around!! When we decided it was warm enough to put her in the water she nothing short of a natural! She seems to love the warm weather and the
water just as much as the rest of us! Whew!
How pretty is this place!? What an awesome view!
We finished off the weekend with one last tube ride - this was right before the clouds filled the sky and the weather started turning a little to chilly for our liking! So we packed things up and spent the rest of our day lounging at the camper drinking a little and laughing a lot!
