ME OH MY! Alaina is 1!! Wow....that went fast!
Well, honey princess, yes that is what we call you; along with "sweethawt", "sis", and "ah-aina ohs!"
This year has been an absolute whirlwind and you my dear are a blast! When people dream of a "perfect baby" I think it would be safe to say you are it! You cry - never, you fall asleep in your own crib - always, you eat - everything, you cuddle - often, you play - quietly, you love - unconditionally and you are oh so sweet!!
So that thing called "birth order" - I am now a firm believer in it all. You and your brother are so different and other than a few things that I promised I would do different with you (like put you in your crib to fall asleep and make you try all different kinds of food) I leave no other conclusion than birth order and gender! :)
You play so well by yourself and do not like a ton of attention - especially the attention from those you don't know very well. You are next to impossible to get to smile and it is quite funny when people go up to you wanting a sweet sweet smile and you just stare at them like they are crazy. ha! You are at peace on your own and can't stand people being in your space (especially your brother). You do things on your own time and at your own pace and I am OK with this - I don't really want you to grow up - not just yet anyways.... Walking is not a priority in your eyes and this is just fine too; well....except for the fact that it is snowy outside and you are really, really heavy! You still take a 2-3 hour nap right at noon and fall asleep by 7:30! Perfection....
I am really loving this whole "little girl" thing! A year has gone by and the little girls section is not quite as overwhelming and the high-pitched screeches are something that I now understand just comes with the territory. I love dressing you up (only to watch you pull out your hairbow 5 seconds later) and painting your nails. I love squeezing those little thighs and holding you tight! Those cheeks, those few little teeth and your smile! ohhh that smile! You wrinkle up your nose, show your two front teeth and squint your eyes! Although it may not be so cute at 16 - it is perfect right now and when you smile, I smile!
May every year be better than the last and may your little life overflow with love - lots and lots of love!
